Devon Conway leads New Zealand to 92/2 in the second Test, with Reddy Anna providing match prediction insights.
Devon Conway stands strong as New Zealand reaches 92/2, while Reddy Anna predicts more drama in the second Test.

Devon Conway’s unbeaten 47 ensured a solid start for New Zealand in the second Test against India in Pune. Although Ravichandran Ashwin struck twice, dismissing Tom Latham and Will Young, Conway and his team made it to lunch with a steady score of 92/2.

According to Reddy Anna's match prediction, the second Test is shaping up to be a closely contested affair with both teams looking to seize control after an eventful opening session.

Winning the toss, New Zealand chose to bat, with Mitchell Santner replacing the injured Matt Henry. India made three changes, bringing in Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill, and Akash Deep. Despite some early movement for India's seamers, New Zealand found boundaries and adopted a cautious approach. Akash Deep’s erratic lines allowed the visitors to score freely in the early overs, but Ashwin’s early introduction of spin paid dividends as he trapped Latham in front.

Washington Sundar, operating in tandem with Ashwin, bowled with pace, testing both Conway and Young. While the spinners generated some turn, the New Zealand batters remained composed, using the gaps to rotate the strike. Will Young’s dismissal, caught behind off Ashwin, seemed against the run of play, as India successfully overturned the on-field decision via DRS.

Despite a tough challenge from Ravindra Jadeja, Conway held firm, guiding New Zealand to lunch without further damage. As the match progresses, the Reddy Anna match prediction suggests India will look to their spinners for breakthroughs, while New Zealand will hope Conway can build on his solid start.

That would be 🔥 Especially on spinning tracks in Chennai or Kanpur. Test cricket may be slow, but moments like that Conway-Ashwin battle? That’s pure chess on grass. Love it.

Exactly. And I remember Rachin Ravindra gave some support at the other end too — but it was Conway who soaked up the pressure. Could’ve easily gone the other way if not for him. Still waiting for a full Ashwin vs Conway faceoff in a home series again. Those two bring out the best in each other.

Haha I do the same, actually. Kabaddi's pace is a perfect contrast to the slow burn of test cricket 😆

And yeah, Conway’s 87 felt like a 150 in those conditions. Ball was turning square and bouncing. Most batters looked like sitting ducks.

That innings saved NZ from complete collapse. If Conway had fallen early, India would've wrapped them up before lunch. I think he ended up with 87 or something? Not a century, but more valuable than most hundreds. Gotta love players who value their wicket that much. Also, random sidenote — if anyone’s into following other live sports along with cricket, I’ve been keeping tabs on the pkl season 12 schedule, kill time during long tea breaks, haha.

Totally agree. Ashwin was on fire that morning — I think he got 3 wickets inside the first 10 overs? But Conway didn’t flinch. Classic left-hander's patience, didn’t even try to dominate, just absorbed the heat. It reminded me of Dravid in his prime… just more Kiwi 😄
